Evaluation Q.2

How effective is the combination of your main production and your ancillary texts?

For my main product I produced a Music video for the song " Bust your windows " By Jazmine Sullivan, this song is a very angry and makes you feel sorry for the singer. In terms of my music video I feel I did the opposite and done a contrasted her anger with her emotions and showed the side the emotional side. Whilst producing my Digi Pack and my website i knew I had to combine the Three products and portray the same similar theme throughout. In my Digi pack i felt that my artist image should be portrayed as a strong character as my music video showed her weakness. In my digi pack I had used a close up of a straight face that showed no emotions. I felt that it was important to do this, as I wanted the audience to see both sides of my characters. That even though she had been cheated on and she was very sadden by this in the end she was strong enough to move on.

Whilst Producing my website It was important for me to make sure that my artist character has been shown. I wanted my audience to see different sides of my artist. In my digi pack I had shown bright colour’s to reveal my characters happiness and strong personality. I had also used a lot of green, which connotes nature and peace which I had thought was important as I wanted to show that inspite of all her anger and pain she wants peace and freedom from stopping and loving her ex cheating boyfriend. For my website I had also stuck to using bright and catchy colour’s. I had also included icons for fans, which links straight to my artist facebook and twitter page. I did this so it is easier for fans to get to my artists page as my purpose of my website is to advertise my artist and gain a wider audience.

Through out producing my digi pack, music video and website I had linked these 3 together by using color and images to highlight my artists character through out as ‘Bust your windows’ is a very angry but emotional song. I wanted my three products to be eye catching and fun so that the fans find it enjoyable and gain information. I also wanted my audience to feel a sense of welcoming and part of the artist as well as promoting Jazmine Sullivan.

EVALUATION Q.1

In what ways does your media product use, challenge or develop on forms and conventions of real media products?

My music video by Jazmine Sullivan ‘Bust your windows’ I had chosen to take a conventional route for my music video. I had developed conventions of  a narrative a girl who had been cheated on by her boyfriend as well as a performance piece. I had shown a narrative as well as live.

I wanted the audience to feel her emotion. I did this by instead of showing all her anger and hatred towards her boyfriend, I showed all the reminiscing moments of the couple and having flash backs of her boyfriend cheating. I made sure that I had shown a softer side of my character contrasting with the anger of the song.

I had also looked at different music artist such as Beyonce ' Ring the Alarm' beyonce had chosen to show all her hatred and anger through her performance as well as her song whereas I had taken a different approach.

To get the audience to feel her emotion I had to make sure that I lip synced correctly and cut to the beats. To get the audience to enjoy and feel really part of the music video these elements need to be done correctly.

Website plan- site philosophy

The purpose of the website is to promote the artist of my music video 'Jasmine Sullivan' 'bust the windows' so the audience know who she is, what is the artist song is about. The audience would also want to know how this song may relate to her life.

Another purpose of creating this website is to get a wider audience to be interested in r 'n' b. The audience that is most likely to be attracted to this artist would be older teenagers-35 years old.
